I noticed today that my Smart Playlist that keeps up with the podcasts that I have listened to recently is no longer updating on the iPod. I installed the latest iPod Updater software last week when it was released with iTunes 4.9. The Smart Playlist will update when I connect to my Mac and sync the iPod to iTunes, but that is not helpful at all.
Has anyone else noticed this?

No, sorry... I think I might have confused people. In this sense, I am referring to a Smart Playlist for the main library. I have gone back to iPodderX due to issues I was having with getting podcasts with iTunes 4.9.
I download the podcasts, sync the iPod, and when I listen to a podcast the Smart Playlist is not updated.

Does it only happen to this Smart Playlist or to all of them?

That is the only Smart Playlist that I have setup like that. I tried it again tonight after using the latest iPod Updater to restore the iPod clean. It does not work. They have broken this behavior.
I also just found out that several podcasts that I downloaded from the iTunes Podcast site will not sync to my iPod. It says that I am not authorized to play them on that computer.
Check the iPod Lounge Forum. The Smart Playlist problem with Itunes 4.9 is becoming a real issue.

Seems as though the newest Firmware update disabled the live iPod smart playlist updating  I think I might go back to the old firmware.

Found some info from Apple (no good news I'm afraid):

This forum is responded to by Ethan, an apple employee saying apple will resolve the issue, leading to this weak "solution":

I hope they fix this soon.
