I would like to have a half decent stereo system in my front room and wanted to see what everyone else uses...!
I was thinking of just getting some JBL creature speakers and pluggin them into my airport and streaming music to them via itunes... (does anyone know for sure if I can do this?) or plugging my ipod into them for parties.
or does anyone else have any good ideas? :D
I have a PB 12", ipod 30gig 3G and airport express.

I use an Airport Express to stream to my stereo system. It is da bomb. Next step is to get the Keyspan remote so that I can actually skip songs w/o going to the computer.

The Creatures have decent sound. You can use them with your Airport if you have an Airport Express (the mini base station). Your iPod can handle the speakers directly just fine.
Depending on what kind of party you're having, you could use the PowerBook and put the iTunes visualizer full-screen on your TV too. :)

I stream my music from my master computer, iMac G5, to my living room computer, iMac DV, with iTunes via Airport. In my bedroom, connected to my iMac G5, I've got a NAD 701 stereo reciever (got it at a yard sale when I was 13 ) with Bose 101 Bookshelf speakers (13th Birthday Present). These provide pretty decent sound for their size and they look great with my iMac (they are also white). My living room system (iMac DV) is connected to my Roomates Pioneer home theatre in a box which sounds terrible but gets great bass and is nice for parties.
