I've had my ipod for a few years now, no problem. All of a sudden when I plug it in to sync, the ipod shows the regular "do not disconnect" screen but my Mac just shows the spinning icon for quite some time and then I get the message "this drive is not recognized or readable or something similar to that with the option to initialize, format or eject"
All of my music is on the ipod and I can use it with no problem but I cannot get pass this problem. What is causing this, should I go ahead and initialize it?

Thanks

Paul

Have you tried resetting it? Hold the pause button and menu button at the same time for a few seconds. Let me know what happens.

If you reset while it is plugged in it may work. On click a wheel iPod, holding Select (center button) and Menu resets.
