Turn off Auto-update?

Hiyas all,

I'm running iTunes 4.9 with 10.3.9, and I own an iPod Shuffle. Auto-update whenever I plug it in to recharge drives me batty. How can I turn it off? I looked at some webtutes, but they were for 4.7.1 and the option 'turn off autoupdate' doesn't have a GUI option any more.

iTunes>Preferences>iPod (make sure its connected) uncheck Auto-Update. You can also set it to not start up iTunes every time the iPod is connected.

There is no 'Auto-Update' thing to uncheck - the only option I have is to check 'only update checked songs' - the only things I've had to leave off this screenshot is cancel and OK at the bottom, and a mysterious 1.1 to the right - the forum wouldn't let me upload it at full size.

Turn off "Open iTunes when this iPod is attached".

The shuffle is different in that you have to update it manually (or click autofill).
