My 9.2.2. classic environment is hanging on start up with every setting except "Extensions Off." The extensions show they are loading, the progress meter gets to about 99% full, and then it just hangs – sometimes forever – sometimes for 30 seconds or so before it finally gets to 100% and Classic has booted.

What's going on here? Any ideas or solutions?

Thanks
:)

This happened to me early on when I was using GoMac. I've heard others report similar problems which they traced to various extensions.

If you have Conflict Catcher, you can check to see what the load order is for extensions and control panels. Whatever that last one is might be the problem.

Since things work well with extensions off, that is another hint. Finding the one that hangs might take some trial and error if you don't have CC.

Thanks.

The problem could be with one of the extensions in the OS9 Base set since I can boot fine with the Extensions Off setting (the only setting that works).

I'm wondering if I need to do a reinstall of OS9 or if there's something in OS X that's causing it to hang. I'm thinking that it might be an OS X problem because I can start up fine when I boot directly into 9.2.2. Weird.

you definitely want a more vanilla OS9 install for running classic. less third-party extentions/control panels = more better.

Understood, thanks, but I can't even boot with the basic OS9 Base set!
