ipod 40 gig photo connection problem

Okay I bought my Ipod from my brother recently and he said that it worked great before this. The first time I synced it with firewire it showed up in Itunes and worked fine. The second time it dident work except for just charging. The problem is not the cord because we tryed the cord with my other brothers ipod and it worked fine. I even tried using the ipods built in system check and it dident even notice the firewire connection. I also used the cord on another computer with my ipod with no luck, but my brothers ipod worked on it. I have a 30 gigabyte ipod Photo. If you have any ideas about what to do please reply.

I have exactly the same problem, scince a week now.
I have a 3rd generation ipod that connects with the firewire. But for some reason now it only charges, it wont mount onto the desktop or in itunes. I have a dual lead with USB and firewire on it, so if I plug both in the ipod will come up in itunes but not on the desktop.
I've tried all the opions of reseting the ipod and changing it to disk mode, but nothing.
If anybody else out there knows how to solve his problem please help. It's very frustrating.:mad:
