IPod totally crashed - help! Please!

Hi,

I hope someone can help me. I plugged my iPod into my Mac, and it started clicking (strangely), but wouldn't mount. i then tried restarting my computer. Whilst doing this I (stupidly) tried to restart my iPod. It very briefly said it was ok to disconnect so i did, and then it crashed my computer and is now stuck with the light on saying do not disconnect.

Any suggestions on how to get the thing alive again? Or do I have to take the thing to the Apple store and queue for the rest of my life?

Force it to reboot by holding down both the Menu and Play buttons for about 10 seconds.
