The way you guys do the indexes causes the results from google hits to not be usable. Google finds URL's like:

http://www.macosxhints.com/index.php?topic=network&page=14

But the items on page 14 move over time to page 15, then to page 16, etc. This also makes it not effective to bookmark pages.

It may be better to number your pages the opposite way so the items on page 14 are always the same and new items would then be put into page 15, then 16, etc.

There is always a lot of redundancy in Google results. In the case of the main macosxhints site, I think you will find that the articles you are looking for will show up in another of the Google result items, one that references the "sid" (story id) and these URLs are persistent.

Note also that it is sometimes useful to click on Google's "cached" link to see the page as it was at the time that Google indexed it.
