I recently bought a 40 GB iPod photo off of eBay. I am not sure if it was in Mac or Windows format when it came, but I recently hooked it up to my brother's PC, and now it is definitely in Windows format. I have an iMac and was wondering how to change the format of the iPod back to Mac, or if it even matters (because it syncs to my mac either way).

Go to application>utilities>ipod software update and run that with your ipod plugged in. If you do not have the most current ipod software on your mac, go to http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/ and download it.

i am sure i downloaded the the ipod update from Software Update but in my system preferences it is not in the installed updates list. Maybe its because i haven't yet got my ipod video i just purchased it online today.
Do i need any software for ipod video or is it already up-to date from the box?

If you reformat it for the Mac, then you won't be able use it with a PC, if that's an issue. When it's formatted for a PC, it will synch with both Macs and PCs, but you'll have to use a PC and the Windows versions of the iPod software updaters.

Thanks guys, I got it all worked out and my iPod is now in Mac format. I appreciate the help as I am still learning the ins and outs of OS X.
