Hi all. I have just bought a 30GB Ipod Video which I sync with my home PC. I'd like to charge the IPOD at work and until I am able to buy a travel charger I wondered if it was possible to charge it using the USB cable on my work PC (there is no ITUNES on it) so I don't think it'll delete my IPOD Tunes. Can anyone tell me if this is okay to do. Many thanks
Andy

just to be sure you should probably set the ipod to manually manage songs. This way there will be no worries about songs being deleted. My guess is it will charge fine without itunes, but if you needed it you would have to put it on, then you would have to have the pod set to manually manage or you would lose songs that are on your pod but not in the itunes library. If it shows up on your computer then you can unmount it correctly, if not then you should be able to remove it provided there is no disk access to the ipod going on.

You can charge the iPod from anything with a USB port - Desktop machine, laptop, powered hub, or a $7 power adapter you find in the back of the parts shop somewhere around the USB cables. Nothing's going to get deleted from the iPod unless you take some action to delete it. A Mac-format iPod plugged into a windows box might bring up a "format" window, but this is where common sense steps in.
