I have just gotten an ipod mini, and am having problems with the volume being too loud. I have turned the volume all the way down and I can hold the earphones at arms length and hear the music clearly. I have tried with sound check on and off, as well as turning off the eq and it makes no difference. Anyone have an idea?

if you have 'just' got a ipod mini I am guessing its second hand coz they stopped making/selling them 4 to 6 months ago...
where did you get it from?
It sounds faulty and may need to be returned for repair....

if you're usioon the speaker connection on the back of a dock, that volume isn't related to the volume control on the iPod, its automatically very loud. If you are just using the headphone port, it sounds like a hardware problem. Also worth trying to restart or restore it couldn't hurt.

The Ipod mini I have was brand new - still factory sealed in a box. It was a Christmas gift from my mother, and she probably bought it 4-6 months ago.
I am using the headphones port, and I do have control of the volume (it gets louder) but at the lowest setting it is still much too loud. If I was sitting on the train everyone within 5 feet could enjoy my music along with me! I guess that sounds like a factory problem? I was hoping that there would be some control I have not tried. I will try resetting it, maybe that will do something.
Thanks
