View Full Version : Is battery icon accurate?

Hi:

Thanks for this forum. This is my first post. I have a 30 gig IPOD I got a month or so ago. I charge my IPOD to my lap top until the large battery icon in the main part of the IPOD screen says "charged" rather than "charging". After playing songs (with backlit option on continuously) for only an hour or so, the smaller battery icon at the top righthand top corner goes down about 2/3. So, only 1/3 battery icon shows. Is this smaller battery icon accurate (i.e., is the proportion of battery life actually 1/3?)? Or is this not accurate?

I was told that the life of the charge should be about 14 hours. So on the face of it this icon proportion doesn't seem right. The only thing I can guess to explain such a decrease in the battery icon is either the battery icon isn't proportionally accurate (and there is much more life to the charge than it appears) or the backlit option drains a whole lot of juice after even just an hour of only playing songs. Or else their is something wrong with my IPOD. Any guidance out there?
thanks,
Craig

Hi, I just got the same iPod and was wondering the same thing. I only get about 6 hours out of it, but I sit there and monkey with it nonstop. I think that the more you have it backlit and are "doing" stuff with it, instead of just listening, the faster the battery goes. I'd also be interested in finding out how much time would be expected while, say, watching videos or movies.
