I have a large library of music on my work computer with playlists, etc. I also have one at home which has my wife and I's playlists, photos, etc. Can I add from both or do I have to make them identical or choose 1 or the other.

It keeps warning me that if I sync one I lose the other. I don't want to replace one, just add from it (including playlists). I know I can move individual songs from library to library, but then I can't get them into the right playlist. Am I missing something?

I don't know of a way to do it at the playlist level, but I've done it at the overall level, by syncing all files in the iTunes Music folder, which sounds like what you're doing. Because I don't know of a way to sync playlists (all contained within the iTunes Library file), my syncs are one way only, from a "master machine" to the other. If you enforce that, and make changes only on the master machine, then songs, playlists and purchased music can be synced, but only one downstream direction. I hope someone had made a program that can reach inside the Library file but until that happens we're limited.
