I have a new shuffle. I have 2 macs. I was trying to share music between the two but kept failing. I searched the web and found this software called Senuti (http://wbyoung.ambitiouslemon.com/senuti.)

The idea was to "Trick Itunes into not recognizing the Ipod" therefore allowing me to transfer files through Senuti, eventually allowing me to send to Itunes.

During this process I was told to bring "Itunes" within my music folder to the desktop then launch Itunes. Basically Itunes asked me if I wanted to link with the Ipod, I was told to answer "no". I did this, but the Ipod went away, not allowing me to set new preferences.

When I started the process over again, it asked me if I wanted to replace my Itunes library. I think this is where I went wrong, I did and later I couldn't find my music library. Many songs were there, much bumming.

Any thoughts?

if you look in your itunes music folder on both macs.... are there any folders full of songs on either machines?....... if not they may be gone for ever...

If you want to share your music in future, there are a number of ways to do it.... if the macs are connected on a network you can simply use iTunes built in 'share' function.....

or

just copy the itunes music folder from 1 mac to another, open itunes and 'autorise' the new library.

My music is still safe on my desktop Mac, but on my laptop it doesn't seem to be there. I had two separate sets of music on each library, which is why I was so disappointed. In the software of the Senuti, it said "don't worry if your music doesn't appear right away" but I can't seem to trace it anywhere.

Any chance its hidden deep and I'm just not going through the right process?

If you clicked "yes," those songs were deleted. You'd have to do some serious file system recovery to get them back, with no guarantee of success, unless iTunes simply put them in the Trash.

Basically, what is happening is that you're trying to do something that the shuffle software is specifically designed to prevent you from doing.

If I was going to move music from one Mac to another (this is what it sounds like you're trying to do, not "share" but "copy") I would use iTunes to set aside space for data on the shuffle and transfer the songs that way, as normal files, using the shuffle's flash drive mode, instead of as a self-managing music system.

Thanks

I checked the trash and no sign there. I must have deleted. I was tired and being stupid.

Thanks for the input.
