iPod Nano noise issue (NEW)

I just got a new 4 gig nano... When it is plugged into my PowerBook G4 via the USB port the right speaker on the headphones or external speakers (and not the left) make a static noise that varies in pitch. Is this normal is do I have a problem? When the USB cable is unplugged it sounds and plays fine.

I have exactly the same problem. Let me know if you manage to reslove this with apple or otherwise.
