I have not upgraded to 10.2 yet. I am one who has been looking for the return of overscan and real NTSC screen resolutions (Available, of course, in previous versions of Mac OS). Will I be disappointed?

Thanks,
D.

Better late than never ;).

Yes, you’ll be disappointed. At least I was :(. I do not know what kind of digital hub Apple plans if it already fails showing movies at full resolution when connected to a TV set. Same goes for the inability of the DVD Player to show half-frames (most bonus material) the right way.

If anybody has a hint convincing a Mac under Jaguar to switch into overscan or real TV mode besides booting into classic that’ll be just great.

yeah, this truly sucks.

mac is the platform of choice for many video artists.
with very few of their apps compatible with X,
and this fundamental omission of overscan,
these artists will not be able to switch yet.

pair that with Jaguar's inability to boot in 9 -
which only started happening after I upgraded to 10.2 -
and you have a screwy situation and a lot of unhappy people.
and many of these people were previously ardent mac supporters.

Jaguar has only made my life harder...
mysteriously dissapearing folders,
booting in os 9 == no recognized hard drive,
half my software became unstable....
sigh, guess I'm waiting for 10.3.
you can bet I won't pay for it this time around.
no way iChat is worth all this crap.

oh well sorry for the vent,
I am in a bad mood
and just wish I could get some overscan action.
still apple is way better than microsloth,
and OS X is the best platform ever.

please if anyone has a hack let us know,
or apple step up to the plate and fix the problem -
we paid $130 for it,
and I even paid for .mac too.
