All ye UN*X freak;

Can anyone give me a rundown on both MUTT and PINE? Are they both Mac OS X native or are they run through the X11 environment? What are the advantages / disadvantages of both? How do they compare to one another?

I'm simply not settled on an email program, Puma's Mail.app is definately out - I simply cannot deal with having to send the same email ten times in order for it to squeeze through! All trouble-shooting has totally failed.

Mozilla Mail sends out mail with little problem using the same settings, but it's a bit awkward - any thoughts on MUTT and PINE out there?

thanks,
Jacques

Pine is an easier to use e-mail program. For two reasons.
1) It uses pico as it's default editor.
2)Its function keys are mneumonic.

Mutt on the other hand uses vi as it's default editor, and it's function keys are incredibly esoteric.

Pine is designed from the ground up to be utilized by novices, but it is also availible for major tweaking, and can be the tool of an extreme power user.

Best of luck.

Use Pine if you would like to try CLI-based mail. It is very pretty and simple to use.

Mutt is extremely configurable.

I tried both with local sendmail. Dunno if they squeeze your mail better than Mail.app. I used them for accessing mail when not at home. But now Squirrelmail do that job a lot simpler.
