Hi.
I've tried looking around the web and here and can't seem to figure this one out :o

Is there a way of switching an extreme basestation (hardware firewall) into "stealth mode"?

I can do this on my wi-fi powerbook (g4 10.5 15") by going into sharing preference pane. Similarly, i can do this to the software firewall on my other g4 (10.5) which is connected via ethernet to the basestation.

...but how do i enable the basestation itself as "stealthy"? Going to grc.com confirms that all my ports are closed, but none are invisible/stealthed to the outside world.

any help? :(

How to change the Firewall settings in the Airport Express unit when it is operating as a Wireless router?

The Apple Airport Base Stations cannot be "Stealthed" in that way.
I can't remember the exact actilce but there is something out there explaining just becasue your Base Station shows up as not stealthed with Shield's Up doesn't mean your Router is not secure.

Oh..Ok. (thanx :) )
I think i'll take HenWen off then (I'm getting paranoid 'cos it keeps alerting me....on average once every 45 seconds  ).......i thought that stealthing the BS would help.

Thanx for the reply.

You can stealth the firewall on your PowerBook, that's what I have. Still likely overkill behind a NAT Router and WPA2/MAC Filtering on wireless.
