Rob,

FYI, something funny is going on with your RSS2 feed for these forums. It's this one: http://forums.macosxhints.com/external.php?type=rss2

Because your feed is cached on my machine for a few days, I can't be certain, but it looks as if it's pumping out RSS 0.91 instead of RSS 2.0. The change seemed to have occurred around 1800 GMT 17/04/06 - I guess that's 1100 your time.

The change could be part of a cunning master plan on your part, I guess. Though I did like the RSS 2 feed.

As far as I know, we haven't changed a thing here.

I'll have to look into this tomorrow, but clearly, something's not right -- it's not updating at all. The standard RSS feed shows the last new thread at 1:39pm today.

In the interim, here's a handy trick. Try this RSS:

http://forums.macosxhints.com/external.php?lastpost=true&type=rss2

That will show all new *posts*, not just new threads ... and it seems to be working.

I have a vague memory of you being a NNW user. I noticed the problem with the feed because it appeared to have stalled - but I feel the problem arose because NNW was confused by the sudden change from RSS 2 to RSS 0.91 - the new threads were of a different format to those cached in NNW already. I suspect the same thing has just happened to you but we probably have different caching strategies so the time the stall appears to happen is different.

In reality the feed is not stalled at all. Try a new subscription to the same URL (preserving your existing subscription) and you should be up to the minute (well, hour!)

However, it is in RSS 0.91

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<?xml-stylesheet href="http://feeds.macosxhints.com/~d/styles/rss2full.xsl" type="text/xsl" media="screen"?><?xml-stylesheet href="http://feeds.macosxhints.com/~d/styles/itemcontent.css" type="text/css" media="screen"?><!DOCTYPE rss PUBLIC "-//Netscape Communications//DTD RSS 0.91//EN" "http://my.netscape.com/publish/formats/rss-0.91.dtd">
<rss xmlns:feedburner="http://rssnamespace.org/feedburner/ext/1.0" version="0.91">

Cool! Also RSS 0.91 format though.

I think I know what's going on, and we're trying to get some answers before I post back with wild guesses :).

... but not for the next two weeks I guess :)

Congrads on the new arrival - the second one is always more chilled out - well so I'm told anyway.

Hehe...well, I will be at home, and the kid will have to sleep at some time :)
