after a quick jog over to macfixit ... and a dig through thier database ... I came here with the same amount of info that I left with ... not much.

Now, don't get me wrong I do like macfixit.

I was just thinking that it would really be nice to have an updated databank of all the devices that work with Ox. I even called apple support who then called yamaha ... to find out if the 2100ix is compatible to OSX or not .... verdict ... if toast supports it I guess so. Oh well, at least the tech guy called me back to tell me that.

So what do you folks think?

I think it sounds like a wonderful opportunity ... but probably not for me :-). Between this and macosxhints, that's about all I can handle (even with the excellent help I'm getting here from the other moderators).

But it would be pretty trivial to set up. Geeklog (http://geeklog.sourceforge.net) (the engine that runs macosxhints) would work quite nicely -- create categories for types of peripherals, and then post 'stories' with subject lines that are the brand and name of the peripheral, and the story content would be any OS X specific notes to be aware of. I'd think the basic setup could be done in 30 minutes, followed by a couple weeks of tweaking the look and feel of the site ;-).

PHPNuke and the other weblogs could be used in a similar manner.

Any takers? I'd provide help with the initial setup if someone chose Geeklog, but someone else is going to have to run with this one if we want to see it happen.

Or someone proficient in FileMaker web publishing could set up a DB to start gathering this info. There's no doubt that a decent hardware compatibility list would be a big hit. At one point I thought MacAddict was trying to do that but don't think they got very far.
