Hey I just picked up "MacOS X Unleashed". It's a terrific intro to both the gui and command line parts of MacOS X. Chapters 16-18 in particular deal with compiling and installing Unix software under macosx and writing shell scripts. Highly reccommended!!!:)

Yep, I echo these thoughts. The book is well written, well structured and assumes the reader is an old time Mac user, so expalins all the UNIX stuff with that in mind... very good book.

It's a great book. I loved all 1,400 pages of it :D

I highly recommend it to ANYONE who wants to learn more about OS X.

I'll jump in and say it's a great book. Just got it over the weekend. First book on OS X I''ve seen that was worth my money.
