I'm in trouble... I backed up the 15 GB drive on the G4 500DP at my work, through FileSharing on a Linux server running some kind of AppleShare daemon (atatalk?). Veeeery slooow, but eveything seemed fine. What I did was I turned the main folders into .img files with Disk Copy, and then copied them to the server, and tried to mount them to see if eveything was okay. It was.
For some reason I forgot to check the most inportant .img, the one containing the data-folder. And after I had re-initialized the drive, I put the images back and tried to mount them, which they did, ... except for data.img! The computer was running 9.1, and when I tried to mount data.img it told me this disk cannot be read by this computer, do I want to initialize it? Of course I don't, and what's worse, how do I get my data back?
If I ask Disk Copy ("Check image" or something), it tells me there's nothing wrong with the .img, but nevetheless it won't mount. It won't mount in OS X either, nor does ShrinkWrap mount it. What do I do? Help!

How big is the DMG data file? I'm not sure if OS 9 can handle images bigger than 2gb ... if you can find an OS X machine, it might be worth a shot to see if OS X will mount it. It's my understanding that the OS X version of Disk Copy is not subject to the 2gb limit that the OS 9 version has.

Thanks, but no, it's 1.13 GB, so that's not the problem. I tried to mount it in OS X, but it won't. The only advantage is that in OS X I *can* insert it without mounting, so that some /dev/disk is asociated with it. I tried fsck on it, but it couldn't find a starting block or something like that. Somebody said I should try to insert it without mounting and then let Norton Disk Doctor recover my files from it, but I can't figure out how to insert without mounting in OS 9, and Norton Disk Doctor won't run in Classic. :-(
Any more ideas?
