ipod synch extremely slow

suddenly, for no apparent reason, after years and lots of ipods, both my nano and my iphoto are synching at a snails pace. suggestions?

are you using the same port on your computer? You may have been using USB2.0 before and somehow got switched to 1.1, which would indeed be much slower
