My 12 inch powerbook had an unexpected hard drive crash. Though obviously everything else on the old one is gone, I figured I'd have my music that is on my ipod. I plugged in the ipod to the powerbook using the USB. I wasn't able to get the songs into my new itunes library. Does anyone know if this is possible, and if so, how to do it? Thanks!

There are many available software options on Version Tracker.

you need an ipod ripper such as senuti (http://www.fadingred.org/senuti/) to do this.

How did you know that? I've noticed that since i got the new hard drive (2 days ago) I've noticed it make a pretty loud "ping" sound twice. What is that?
Thanks!

Senuti fixes the ping sound? I thought that was for ripping songs off the ipod.

Ok, so I got the Senuti program. But now, on my regular iTunes, it is showing that there is nothing on my iPod. Not even greyed out. How can I fix that? Then, at that point, will I just press copy on Senuti once the songs are recognized on iTunes?
Thanks

not sure what the ping is...my signature refers to MPMOL quote. Umm about your songs though...i get a very bad feeling that you plugged you ipod into your machine with no songs in itunes and your ipod set to automatically update...if that is what you did and you let the update proceed your songs would have been erased from your ipod...
