I-pod question/ itunes question

two questions.
1. can you delete songs off of your ipod? is there anyway to do it besides restoring it and then updating it again through itunes.

2. my itunes is giving me problems. it seems like since i have more music that it gets bogged down and can't play songs clearly--but rather on slow speed or kind of skipping over itself. what is the deal? i have had to copy them to windows media player in order to listen to the tracks (where they play fine).

What computer is you iPod plugged into? (Mac, Win)

What iPod is it? (3g, nano, shuffle)

is your iPod set to manual or automatic update? if its automatic, then after deleting a song off the computer, it will automatically be deleted from your iPod when you connect it. if you're on manual update, you need to select the song (on the iPod part of iTunes) while your iPod is attached and hit delete.

as for the iTunes problem, since it seems like the files are ok, the only things i can think of are the playback settings in Preferences in the File menu. try moving good WMP files back into iTunes and see how they do.
btw, how much music are you talking about? my 700MHz comp runs nearly 50 GB fine
