Spent the last two or so hours trying to get iTunes sharing working over my wired LAN. Nearly there!

PC side:-
Latest iTunes, Zonealarm firewall temporarily turned off, no windows firewall running, Windows XP, network seeing shared mac folders.

Mac Side:-
Latest Tiger, Latest iTunes, no firewall, network seeing shared pc folders.

Router:-
Linksys BEFSR41, Multicast enabled now (yay!)...

What works:-
Both machines setup to see the others itunes, and the mac *does* indeed see the pc itunes - yay!

Problem:-
My PC can't play my iTunes files. Sees the mac itunes playlist, but when I click it I get "the shared music library macmusic is not accessible for an unknown reason" (-3259).

Any ideas folks? I'm so close.... I suppose I could use my PC as my music server as a last resort, but I'm wondering if that'#ll cause a problem if I try to download the music to my ipod I'#m getting soon? It's just my CD's I've ripped over the years, no drm that I know of....

do you have your ~/Library/Music directory shared?

Yeah, I can actually go surf to my mac music files, look through my mac library folder etc with impunity from my pc...

I can SEE the files I want - I can even click on them from my PC and it plays my mac music files, and as I say, PC iTunes SEES my MAC iTunes shared folder, but it doesn't play tem... it's weird.

I've decided on a temporary solution - I've transferred my music to my PC, since it can be seen and played readily by my MAC.

Just hope it doesn't become a problem when it comes to syncing with my nano in a week or so?

Also, it's amazing how much slower iTunes is to use on my 1200MHz PC, than my Dual 450MHz Mac... :)
