View Full Version : How can you tell what generation the iPod is?

Forgive me for such a basic question- I am an iPod newbie. How can you tell what generation the iPod is? I bought a used 40GB with photo capabilities. Thanks!

'MacTracker' will tell you all you need to know.

do a search for it on www.macupdate.com :D

Mactracker is currently offline. It just shows an explanatory message from the owner/web creator about the specifics of it.

You can try this instead:
http://www.apple-history.com/

Also when you are using your iPod and navigating using the click wheel, you can go to settings/about and it will give you a bunch of useful info like model number, software version, serial number, and more.

You can use
