If you minimize iTunes, you have only two ways to get the title of the current track :
- click on one of the iTunes icons to show its window again
- right click on the right iTune icon

I would like it easier ... like moving the mouse over the iTunes icon and see the current track name ...

I think this can be done by changing the window title ...

And if that isn't possible, perhaps a little AppleScript can do the job :

A little window without content showing the current
iTunes track as window title ...

At last the second way should be possible, but how do I change the title of a window ?

How about X-Tunes (http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=15557&db=mac)? You can specify a hot-key combo and a little translucent window (ala Volume key feedback) appears showing you what song is playing as well as iTunes controls (Pause, Next, Previous, Volume etc…).
Also depending on your screen realestate you could just minimize iTunes (click on the greem window button) and place in a corner of the screen and you can see what song is playing and even control iTunes without bringing it to the front.
