View Full Version : iPod Power Problem

I have a 10 Gig iPod, relatively new (6 months), and the power seems to drain within 1 hour or less (from the specs it says it should last 10 hours!)

Once drained it will not turn on and does not register on my computer for nearly an entire day. Very strange. I took it back to the shop the first time this happened, and they said it was fine, just needed a charge. But now that it has happened again it seems clear that all is not fine. While I love my iPod, one hour per charge, and a 24 hour wait for a recharge, just does not make sense.

I have tried to search around to see if this is a one off, or if others have experienced similar problems, but found very little. I came across one article with a similar problem but that was from 2001, and I would have thought Apple would have corrected the problem by now.

Does anybody out there have any idea what the problem might be? Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...

Press the play and menu buttons at the same time for a few seconds to reset the iPod to factory defaults.
This tends to clear up the power issues.

Thanks. I will try it and let you know whether it is resolved or not. Fingers crossed.

Thanks again.

So far so good. I have been testing my iPod after resetting the it to factory defaults and the battery seems to be performing as it should. :)

It is a relief.

Thanks, bassi.

Good to hear it's back to normal.
