View Full Version : iSync Beta Released
Just thought I'd kick off a discussion of iSync, which as yet I haven't tried.
Get it at http://www.apple.com/isync/ and share your first impressions here, if you want.

Well, have you tried using this yet? I don't have a Blue Tooth adapter yet or a fun for that matter that works. However, I'm not ready to experiment with my Palm.
I played around with it a little using my Treo 90. It shows great promise, but I've decided to stick with Palm Desktop for the time being. The weak link for me at this point is iCal, which is frustratingly slow (at least, on a G4 400). I do like the idea of integration between all my iApps and my Treo, but the Palm Desktop interface, I find, is just easier to work with.
Love iSync's icon though.

I meant phone not fun in my previous post. I'm using an iBook 600 and I too find the iCal program a little too slow for my needs. But it does show a lot of promise.
I also went ahead and signed up for the .mac account and have spent the morning trying to get the Backup program to work right. Seems some of my permissions were out of whack and after running the disk utility and resetting the permissions I was able to get Backup to work right.
Again seems like we're beta testing for Apple.
Well I've got 1Ghz G4, T68i and the Bluetooth USB blob...
With isync I can now bring them all together, I think it can also sync in my laptop but I've not tried it yet as it being fixed by Apple atm :(
I've so long wanted to have my address and calendar every where and this provides that function... nice one apple... now can someone integrate my Pocket PC so I can sync to that too please :)
Cheers,

Actually, my main qualm right now is that one can't have the PDA sync with both iSync and Palm Desktop--I have to choose one or the other.
From the iSync help file:
In the HotSync menu, choose Conduit Setup, then open the Palm Address Book conduit and choose Do Nothing. Click Make Default, then click OK.
Repeat this step for the Date Book and To Do List conduits.
Any ideas why this is the case?
