Question about linking ipod 30g to two computers

Okay here is my question.
I have an Ipod 30gig and I travel alot.
So what im wanting to do is be able to use my ipod on my laptop on the road and my base computer at home.

But of course when I connect it to the laptop it asks if i want to erase my ipod and resync it with the new library. Is there a file or something I can copy that makes the Itunes on the laptop think its the same Itunes as the base computer?

Mainly what im tring to do is be able to download TV shows while on the road and upload them to my Ipod. So any ideas? I tried copying all the system files from the base computer and replaceing the laptop files with them but that didnt work either.

I could use a 3rd party program to copy all my music from my ipod to the laptop and just erase it every week but that would takes FOREVER being that its nearly full. Anyways please help with any ideas thank you

Hi there,

At the beginning of the year I got a 30G ipod video, which I loaded from a computer at home in New Zealand. I have been travelling since then and don't have access to that computer anymore. How do I load the ipod onto a new computer in Ireland, keeping all my files and allowing me to add additional music, photos, videos and podcasts etc. I tried to download the ipod update software from the net on to the new computer, but although the computer recognised the ipod in My Computer, itunes didn't recognise the ipod. I tried the trouble shooting but to no avail. I'm nervous I will loose all my files off my ipod and I don't want to have to restore it. Please help!:)
