Hi.
My G3 Powerbook (latest model), is running OS X 10.1.2 and whenever I open the Terminal it takes about 1-2 minutes till it will open.
Any idea?
Thanks,
Oren.

If this is a noticed slowdown from a previously quicker opening terminal, have you changed the font that is used in the terminal?
I ask because I noticed my terminal taking longer to open when I changed the font to one which was anti-aliased. Switched back to Monaco and it went back to loading quickly again.

are you using tcsh shell? have you modified your startup scripts?
if so, you can watch the startup chain of command thusly:
% exec tcsh -V
N.B.: the last zero-to-bazillion pages of this are your command history building, not very interesting, so page up a couple hundred times :D
let us know.
I now see that I have like 100 fonts called something like "--font8477--" each time with a different number. (I see them when I open the "Show Fonts" when I'm using the terminal)
I tried to search for this "--font8477--" font in Sherlock and withing the Unix find command but I couldn't fine them. I now suspect that these "fonts" are slowing down my monitor opening.
Any idea how to get read of'em?
Thanks.

Clean up the fonts in your fonts folders, especially in classic. If you still need them, make a Fonts(disabled) folder or something to that effect, but the less odd fonts, the better your performance will be.
