Does anyone know where i can get hold of ColdFusion for the apache web server on my mac (it's the one which comes with 10.1)?

I don't think so. If I remember correctly, the only unix version of coldfusion is for solaris...not Darwin (OSX). Better find a server to work on remotely!

CF runs on various *nixes (HPUX, Solaris, Linux) but not on OS X. CF6 might run on OS X because CF6 is completely written in Java. There is no guarantee though as of yet (I was at the CF DevCon a few months ago). ETA for CF6 is sometime late this year.
Use Perl or PHP.
