"Pasting" the current iTunes track into the currently active window?

Well.. Is there any way to do it using AppleScript? I have found a script that gets the information from iTunes, but I haven't found any information on how to just output it to the currently active window, as though it were key strokes. To make myself more clear, this is for telling my playing song to people on an irc channel. I use irssi, a command line irc client, but I haven't found any info on how to just enter plain text into Terminal.app, just how to execute shell commands/scripts.
