I'm pretty sure this wasn't covered in another post, my apologies if it was.

I spend a lot of time on public transportation here in Chicago and I like to watch the series I have on dvd on my 80 gb ipod video. I have been ripping (via handbrake) my shows (all bought and paid for) to my external hard drive and managing my itunes manually to import them into the tv shows section. I've imported all of my veronica mars disks and I've just finished ripping/importing my arrested development. They are all playable in itunes 7. All of them. Both seasons work. In addition, every episode of veronica mars transfers and plays on my ipod.

The problem: only two of my AD episodes transfer to the ipod. I use exactly the same options for ripping all my tv episodes, but the other 16 episodes simply will not transfer and its driving me insane trying to figure out what's going on and why this is (not) happening.

Here's the set up:

-I rip the episodes directly to the external and manage them so the music is on my laptop hd and the videos are kept in separate folders on the external.
-I've moved the shows (battlestar galactica) I've purchased on itunes to the external as well.
-Every episode of every show, ripped or purchased, plays in itunes, and all of the videos transfer to the ipod EXCEPT all but two of the arrested development.
-I only sync the pod when the external is attached.
-I have "sync all" options checked for every aspect of the ipod, so everything should hypothetically be syncing.

Does anyone have any hints? I'm desperate for entertainment on the CTA! :o

I just ran into the same issue and there are a couple of things you can do. If you manually manage your TVShows, you won't have any problem. Otherwise, the "Artist" is missing. Once you add the show title to the "Artist" field in Get Info, your shows will show up in the Sync options for your ipod. Luckily, this can by done in bulk by highlighting all episodes from the same show and doing a Get Info to change the "Artist" tag for all of them at once.

Mountcomp,

Just curious, is your external HD powered by the USB port, or does it have an external power supply?

I'm asking because I run into the same problem from time to time and a "Mac expert" in my office sais it might be an issue with the large amount of power the external HD and iPods require.

First Post Ever!!!
