I am new to the Ipod thing so please bear with me. I have a regular Ipod that my daughter gave me. i have been using it and charging it with no problem, today it just stopped playing. I checked the battery and it gave me a red light. I came home and plugged it into my computer but it is not recognizing it. I tried all the systems in my home and not one of them is recognizing the Ipod. Am i doing something worng or what do i need to do? PLEASE HELP!!!:o

Trevor,

Thank you for the video it was very helpful, but it did not reset my Ipod.

I found out that i had the 512 MB Shuffle (old white skinny version) :p

I followed the video, downloaded, restarted my systems, etc... but i still have the red light for the battery and none of my systems at home will recognize it.

I took it to work and those systems would not reconize it either.

i am not sure what else to do, my hubby is a computer guy (not with Ipod apparently, lol) and he is not sure what else to try. We have done everything that we know to do.

Any other suggestions?

I'd given up my first-gen Shuffle for dead and purchased a second. Last December Apple released this reset utility which revived it for me:

There is also a Windows version. Definitely worth a try. It will erase all the contents of the iPod in the process of going back to factory defaults. But that's better than the alternative. :)

Craig,

Thank you for your help, but it did not work, i now have no battery life left in my ipod :(

i tried everything that the web page suggested and it would not reset nor would my system recognize it. Oh well, I guess I just have to go get a new one.

Thank you for all your help.
