Unable to sync iPod with new computer

Hello everyone,

I've got an iPod that I want to begin to sync with a new computer. The computer that it's been syncing with for over a year is a 12-inch G4 Powerbook and the iPod is a 30-Gig Video iPod. The new computer is a 2GHz Macbook.

The problem is that when I connect the iPod to the Macbook, the dialog box that should pop up, which would let me erase the iPod and begin syncing it with the Macbook, never does. I have reset the iPod once, but I didn't think I should even need to do that. Is there something I'm missing?

Strange, that's for sure. Did you try formatting the iPod on your G4 and then giving it a go? (is that what you meant by reset?)

Is the iPod showing up as a drive at all, or anything like that? Like, can you run disk utility while the iPod is plugged in and actually see the iPod?

Well, don't really know what happened. I reset the MacBook and formatted the iPod again and reset it's name and voila, it worked.

Sorry, I hate it when something ends up working out and I have no idea why. But that's what ended up happening.
