I recently got a Network Attached Storage device, and decided to move my iTunes library out to it. I found some link somewhere to an Apple Knowledgebase article (wish I could find that link again) that told me how to move my library. That worked like a charm. But here's the odd thing...
1. Before, in my music library folder at the root level is where the library-realted files for the music were located (the iTunes Library file and the iTunes Music Library.xml file). Anyway, now, on the NAS, there is nothing apart from the band folders. Any idea where these non-music files are located now? I'm not sure how to find them.
2. Now when I switch my Intel mac over to Windows, iTunes is still looking for the library in its old location. Any ideas or links to how I can point it to the new? I changed the location in Preferences, but nothing happens when I load iTunes, it just shows me a blank list.
Thanks!
More info: I played a couple of songs, making sure the play count advanced, quit iTunes, and then did a search over all my drives for "iTunes Music Library". None of the resulting files showed they were modified today. But it has to be pulling the play count info and song ratings from SOMEWHERE?
I also renamed the folder where all of these files reside on the NAS, and iTunes is still working fine.
