Hello,

Anybody knows what the unknown error -48 means?

I am getting the error every time I tr to sync my ipod after restarting my computer. I have an ipod G5.5, running the latest version of iTunes on Mac OSX 10.4. One thing is that my library is on an external hard disk connected via USB.

When I get the error, for the last few days I had been restoring the ipod to the factory settings, and then I was able to transfer the data.

Today, I decided to click the Apply button on the ipod page in iTunes, and it gave me a warning that the ipod had been previously synched with a different library (!!!)

One other funny thing, is that when the error occurs, for whatever reason, the option "nable Disk Use" appears checked... I know for sure that I haven't checked it. Any ideas?

Carlos

I didn't, but google might know...

FWIW, here is Google's "I'm feeling lucky response" to a search for "error -48".

Thanks Darrell!!!

I had tried googling a number of variations of ipod / itunes and unknown error -48 without much success. Finally this morning I came across this one on the apple website (odd... I had searched there too), that basically explains the solution. I haven't tried it yet, I will shortly.
