hi, I've had my iPod Nano 20gb for over a year now, no problems and my brother recetnly purchased a iPod nano 2gb...we have only 1 computer and I only want to use one user account to save memory etc

Anyway, I open iTunes and plug in the 2gb but it doesn't read it or pick it up, I heard that each iPod has it's own detection software to differentiate between different iPods but on my computer it only reads my iPod 20gb, the first iPod that went on there and it can't pick up the 2nd ipod so I can't put songd on it because it's not reading it !!!

Any suggestions?

is the newer ipod mac formatted, or was it formatted winders style?

or more importantly, are you trying to sync over the same cable. the 20 gigger should be firewire only(possibly usb?), while the newer lil guy should be to the best of my knowledge only usb. so if using the same firewire cable the newer guy wouldn't be detected.

I use windows xp. I have three on my computer. I made a different login for each person on the starup screen. Basically you need to download itunes on each screen name and go from there. I hope this makes sense.

I sync several iPods on my Mac's. Both windows formatted and mac formatted. Does the iPod in question show up on your desktop?
