Song Info area "greyed" out

Just entered the iPod world with a new 2g Nano.

With songs I had on my HD, I was able to edit the info tab, but on everything I loaded from disc, the fields are "greyed out" - any way to add/edit info?

im assuming when you go to sources and check ipod you can't select songs to in turn edit. this would be because you ahve your ipod set to automatically sync.

just guessing, more info on the problem might shed some light if i'm wrong.
