Hey all,
I just got my first Mac and am loving it. But I have a problem and can't seem to find a solution. I now have a G4, 733mhz, 1.5gb ram, OS 10.3.9. Machine is running beautifully. I received the G4 from my Mom and she copied her iTunes to her new Mac Pro and left me a copy on the G4. I Have a 5th gen iPod that I used with my PC. I also have the most recent iTunes on both the Mac and PC and my iPod is up to date. I reset my iPod and reformatted it to Macintosh. Now...When I plug my iPod in to my Mac it will sync with iTunes, I can see all info regarding my iPod, but after a few songs, I get an alert that "iTunes can not read/write to iPod". As i'm new to OS X, I'm not sure what to do next. Disk Utility?, Reformat again?, Heeelp!

Thanks
John

Try a new USB cable. That's the most likely (and cheapest) fix.

Is your iPod plugged into a low power device, such as a keyboard? Try plugging it right into the Mac itself.

I had this problem on my old 4th-Gen iPod. I just can't remember what fixed it. I'm sure it was something very basic like reformatting in Disk Utility or changing firewire ports or cables.

These new one's don't accept firewire cables do they?

When my iPod was more seriously broken this page helped me fix it (http://crunchgear.com/2007/03/05/crunchgear-how-to-fix-an-ipod-that-wont-boot/) with the business card trick.

Yes it's plugged into the Mac itself. I have not yet installed a USB2.0 card. That's going to happen this weekend. I have also tried a new USB cable to no avail. Thanks everyone...I will keep trying.
