Background: I'm a latecomer to iPods and just bought a 2nd generation Nano. I'm listening to my first audio book at bedtime and fall asleep before the iPod's sleep timer stops playing. That's great from a human sleep perspective but awkward when it comes to listening to the audio book the next night.
Is there any way to go forward or back within an audio book section to find one's place?

Yes. It's the same way you navigate within a song. Simply press the center button while the song or book is playing. The cursor will change to a diamond, indicating your present position. You then scroll the diamond forward and backward.

Thanks very much, Chabig. That will be great. I didn't even know about being able to navigate within a song. Cool!
With the audio books, when I put the iPod to sleep and re-start it, do I select "Now playing" or the actual audio book section?

If the iPod goes to sleep while the book is paused or playing, it will just wake up right there--where it left off. This is Apple. Think about how you'd like it to work, and it probably does.
