Delay when first connecting

I've noticed a delay of about 5 seconds (sometimes longer, usually not shorter) when connecting to anything on the main site. Other sites, including the forums are much quicker to respond, so I don't think it's my system. Anybody else notice this?

yes, they did move to a new server, so this might be related to the new server setup.
