View Full Version : CDRW Recommendations???
Anyone have recommendations for a firewire CDRW that will work in X? I'm getting awfully tired of booting into 9.2 in order to use my SCSI drive.
Thanks!

This may not be exactly what you are looking for but have you considered getting an internal IDE writter to replace your current media drive? You can even get "Super Drives" for around $500. I upgraded the DVD-RAM drive in my machine to a Super Drive and have never looked back. It works seemlessly in OS X with Toast Titanium, Disk Burner, and iDVD.

I have a Que! Firewire external CD-RW drive (the 8x4x24x model...it's a little old) that worked fine under OS 9. Under OS X 10.0 I was stuck with iTunes CD-Audio burning only. Under OS X 10.1 the Finder Disc Burn feature works fine.
I don't have Toast Platinum so cannot vouch for that software, OS X, and the Que! drives but I know the iTunes and Finder Disc Burn features work as advertised.
HTH :)
I have a LaCie StudioDrive (firewire) and it worked out of the box with OSX.

I'll vouch for the Que drive using Toast under 10.1 -- excellent. No problems burning data or music with a Que 16x10x40x firewire. Also works in the Finder and iTunes with no problems.
