I've merged your two threads on the same subject. Please don't post multiple times about the same thing.

What model Mac do you have? Please give us more details.

It might be merely a hardware problem due to something you did wrong in working with the machine.
Try booting from an external FireWire disk that has OS X installed on it - that would rule out issues relating to your internal disk and the software on it.

sorry for posting twice, I didnt know it had to be moderated approved.
my computer is a dual 1.8ghz G5. I reinstalled the original factory ram thinking it would be bad ram but thats not the case.
I think it is a hardware issue because I removed all hard drives from the system and tried booting off of the dvd and still got the kernal panic.
I also bought a new hard drive thinking it might have been a hardware failure with the hard drive but still the same issue.
the kernal panic says that it is cpu1 crashing. if it is an actual hardware issue with the cpu what is an approx cost for replacing one of the 2 cpus ?

There is a preference panel that allows you to disable one of the processors on a dual-processor machine. I think it might only come with Apple's "CHUD tools" - these are targeted at developers but are available free to anyone from Apple's developer web site.
This might be useful for debugging - e.g. to see if all is well when you disable CPU1

I cant access that because I get the kernel panics during bootup or installation.
i just hope its the powersupply and not a processor
