I'm very interested to see if the aura of mystery surrounding the Mac Developer extends to hiring or if it's just my boss' curse.

I got the task handed to me to hire a Mac Developer and a seriously hopeless "Good Luck". Is it really that hard to find a Mac Dev? That's how I ended up here at MacOSXhints.com. I use this site myself to troubleshoot my personal mac problems, so why not apply that to my work?

I've been on Dice and Monster and sure, there are responses, but where's the holy grail of Mac Devs who are searching for work?

I called the Mac store and nobody there knew... Maybe someone here can shed some light. Where would you go online if you were looking for a job?

have you checked on the ultranet? I mean for heaven's sake, it's not like Mac developers would actually use the internet...

lol - ok, that joke wasn't so funny, so let's try a serious answer. :)

Mac developers tend to be less corporate, more 'cottage business' types. that does make them a little harder to find. it's not impossible though... one thing you can try is to poke around on the Apple Developer Connection (http://developer.apple.com/) - see if they have a link for job postings, maybe leave something on the message boards trolling for responses or email the ADC support crew and see if they have any advice. a second approach is to google search for mac programmers who do the kind of programming you're trying to get done, then email them and see if they are interested in some contract work.

if you could tell us more about what you're trying to get done, that would help. gotta bait the hook with an interesting worm, you know...

You might poke around on Sourceforge.net as it has a jobs section, although that's actually for open-source projects that are hosted on SF

Yahoo has a group for posting Mac development jobs called mac-dev-jobs (http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/mac-dev-jobs). CocoaDev (http://www.cocoadev.com) has a job board, assuming you want a Cocoa developer. You could also try posting on craigslist.

You might post your problem to Macfreelancer (http://macfreelancer.com/), a mac-centric auction set up where you post a problem, get responses from authors.
