I have an iPod color whose clickwheel no longer functions. The hard disk is fine and the buttons work, but touching the wheel does nothing. I know I can just use it as an external hard drive, but are there any other options for it? I know of the Linux iPod project, but without the click wheel it wouldn’t do much for me. Are there any other hacks out there? Other things I could run on an iPod that don’t require the wheel? Or perhaps some sort of remote that would replace the wheels fuction. Thanks!

Why not fix it? A new click wheel can be purchased for $60 or less.

Edit: A couple minutes of searching found click wheel replacement service for $40, with a 1 year warranty.

If you are handy, you can by my broken iPod (HD is dead) and replace it yourself?
