View Full Version : Won't let me install Installer Update and 10.1.2??

I've got a new QuickSilver box that I've upgraded to 10.1 via the CD installer.

I've got the "Installer Update" .dmg all set to run but the Installer app shows the HD greyed out -- I am unable to select it for installation!

I also have the 10.1.2 upgrader .dmg ready to roll, but when I run it, it says the Installer Update is required.

So...does the Installer Update have some other prerequisite that it's failing to tell me about?

Thanks.

Are you able to use Software Update to install everything up to the 10.1.2 update. Maybe that would be another way to update your installer.

The Security Update is sitting in there, but I'm afraid to install it because it has twice hosed my brand new Mac -- kernel panic during installation, un-bootable afterwards, to the point of having to run the 4 "software restore" CD's that come in the box to start over from a clean image. :(

Yes, the Security Update is required before the Installer Update. If you've got a fresh install, it will hopefully go smoothly for you this time.

That was it. Would have been nice if the Installer had told me there was a prereq and what it was, as it did when I tried to install the 10.1.2 upgrade package.

Anyway, thanks!
