Hey everyone, this is my first post here. nice to be here.

A while ago i removed my ipod without unmounting it. BIG MISTAKE! :( The ipod would not show any songs in itunes or on the pod.

After trying many, many data recovery programs R studio retrieved all my 80 gigs back!!! :)

most of the file names are there and the songs play back. Finally.

Now, I am hoping to restore this as an itunes library.
I found that itunes uses an xml file to hold the entire contents of the library, supposedly including the playlists and the id3 tags (??). On my recovery from the ipod, i searched and found no .xml files. I believe and hope that the ipods OS will not read xml and uses something else.

In the ipod: Root>Ipodcontrol>Itunes folder you find the 75MB file "ipodcontrol"
will this help me?

There are 2 files with playlist in their name but they both have okb. maybe the recovery didnt save them properly. I dont know

What i do know is that i am stuck, cuz i am no hacker and i am in way over my head. But i am so excited i got my 80gigs back! it was all but erased! If anyone knows how i would go about reconstructing my library so itunes can read it and import it then thank you in advance.

i don't think iPods store the playlist for the entire library…
but can't you just go to iTunes, choose "add to library…" and choose the songs you recovered?

you'll lose the "play count" and "date added" but that's better than having all your music missing…
